Why the Snowman Is the Best Sculpture in the Public Realm is a keynote lecture with Kasper König, followed by a panel discussion with Skulptur Projekte Münster's curatorial team moderated by Victor Wang. Developed for the Beaufort Triennial, this event is part of a collaborative project between the Middelheim Museum, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Beaufort Triennial, Folkestone Artworks and Triennial and CAHF. In recent years, museums have been exploring new institutional models and exhibition sites outside the traditional gallery format to facilitate the ever-growing diversity of artistic practices, and to respond to the transformation of public spaces and cities. In a keynote lecture Kasper König will address these concerns through the lens and history of Skulptur Projekte Münster. Held every ten years, Kasper König founded the exhibition of sculpture in the public space in Münster 1977. The event will consider how such “long-term studes” explore the public sphere and how the public sphere itself has changed over time.

'On the Use of Props versus Objects' (Salon #8) is a panel discussion with artists and choreographers Philip Gehmacher & Grace Schwindt in conversation with Victor Wang on the ways in which artists and choreographers utilize objects, props, architecture, and sculpture to examine, support, or problematize the contestation of performance and theatre within contemporary art. The salon also addressed the expansion of performance and choreography into other visual territories such as cinema, sculpture and installation, and how such developments have reinvigorated artistic practices that oppose dramatic and institutional convention.
